How much firewood should I buy?

As a rule of thumb is a well insulated and energy efficient furnace, will use about four to five cords of properly seasoned hardwood per winter for heat and hot water. However, this amount will vary by the size of the house, exposure to winter winds, the length of the winter, and the number of people in the home.

A full cord split and piled takes up about cubic feet/3.6 cubic metres including wood, bark and airspace. Morningwood Firewood uses Measurement Canada's Firewood Buying Guidelines.

We own several wood cutters, splitters, mills and tractors which lets us provide a large or small order customised to your needs. We typically process our wood with a 2012 Bells 4000 circular blade firewood processor.

Local hardwood firewood available in lengths of 13,14,16,& split sizes ranging from small (ideal for high efficiency wood stoves) to larger pieces for outdoor furnaces or a mixture of both.

We sell several products including seasoned (ready to burn), green, just cut (ready for next winter, possibly this year depending when purchased) and bagged hardwood that is sold wholesale to local businesses and also available for purchase retail at Morningwood Firewood.
